What to know about California AB 685

Masha Keylin

In addition to SB 1159, which requires employers to report employee Covid-19 cases to their workers compensation claims administrator, another bill, Assembly Bill (AB) 685, went into effect January 1, 2021.

Under this new bill, California employers are required to notify employees of potential Covid-19 exposure in the workplace and to notify their local public health department of Covid-19 outbreaks.

Employers should review and revise their existing procedures related to notification of Covid-19 exposures in the workplace to ensure compliance with the new notice and reporting requirements imposed by AB 685.
